As The Government of British Columbia and their identity management BCeID solution provides secure access to online government services. The government needed support with single-sign-on (SSO) identity management to ensure government resources, information and user data was secure when utilizing online services such as healthcare and medical card, Covid immunization passports, business information, citizen support, children, natural resources and so much more.
In partnership with the government and Partner lead, Button provide key resources within a long-term engagement to support a way for application development teams to set up login functionality for their app from approved identity providers over a standard, secure protocol.
The Pathfinder SSO solution was required for formal published service level agreements including service availability24/7 with questions and answers addressed during business hours as well.
New users get an easy-to-set-up authentication process. Authorization via Keycloak includes features that allow administrators to define roles and groups and assign users to these roles and groups. When a user logs in, their authorization context(s) come through to the application in the form of claims inside their token. The application can check the user's role and/or group membership and execute authorization-aware application logic based on the values.
In partnership, Button delivered a successful solution built within aKeycloak environment using configuration as code.
Able to deploy and maintain the RedHat SSO (Keycloak) product including alerts and dashboards to monitor the status, internal efficiency and saved resources were realized by B.C. Government.
This also included the creation of Helm templates, web applications to automate the Keycloak integration request process, support of authentication and authorization directly ties to frameworks (OAuth2/OIDC) as well security and government standards.
